Small Town Natural: Explores Three Towers MTB trails in North Bay, ON, Canada (Part 3)

...More on the Three Towers MTB trails in North Bay, ON, Canada!

Interesting history lesson and info on the NBMBA in pics below:

Rock and Roll

Rock and Roll is a Green trail that has some Blue features on the side of the trail like seen above.

Stoneridge is short and challenging! It is an easier black trail. I rode most of it. Great for beginners and Blue riders like me to get their feet wet in black trail riding. Short n sweet! Rocky ride!

The 2 pics above are of the Fern Gully trail head. This trail will lead you to the road or back around if you want to stay on the West Trails. If you want to go to the East trails you can take Fern Gully to the road then turn right and follow the road a few 100 metres to the gravel parking spot (Hydro One doesn't want anyone parking there blocking their access (hence the no trespassing sign) and gate for East Trails.

Keep riding past Fern Gully to ride the short black trails off of Rock and Roll. Stoneridge is first on your left then Hindsight is further along the loop back to parking lot. Both are interesting and just short enough to be fun but long enough that a beginner can feel challenged without becoming overly frustrated.

The next few pics are of the Black trail Hindsight which I could right only part of. I think if I had time to session it I could master it quickly though.

Sorry I didn't take anymore pics of Hindsight. There is a rocky entrance to this big boulder section then behind the boulder is another rocky tech section. Again short enough to give a beginner the idea of what a black feature or trail is like; but not so long it is discouraging. As I mentioned before it was clear to me that the West trails were designed to keep a new rider engaged and interested in learning more. The East side is for seasoned riders who enjoy longer trails with a lot of challenges. Be sure to buy a membership to keep in the info loop of NBMBA or make a donation if you are a traveler just riding for the day!

One of the very best things you can do for mental health and cognitive resilience is mountain biking! My inspiration is North Shore Betty! Well over the age of 70 and still riding tricky MTB trails! You Go Girl!
