Presque'ile Provincial Park located in Brighton, Ontario: This park is on a point where the Lake Ontario Light House is located in Presque'ile
(Above: taken at beginning of shoreline drive towards the lighthouse at the point) Nature's beautiful driftwood artwork are found along the shoreline. This is not the beach area. The shoreline here is all slab rocks or small round rocks. With breathtaking views of Lake Ontario and wonderfully refreshing breezes off the Great Lake. We visited the park for a short camping trip on a blistering hot summer week! The breeze off the lake kept the humidity at bay and was very effective for keeping mosquitoes away too!
We chose a tenting campsite close to the water within walking distance to showers and full service washrooms. This was the perfect combination of treed privacy only a few metres to the water where we could sit on a pebbled shoreline and enjoy the morning coffee with a light breeze and arial show of early morning birds searching the lake surface for breakfast.
Ride your city bike or any bike really along the roads through the provincial park! These roads are flat and very well maintained with wide shoulders designated for cyclists and pedestrians. I really enjoyed Skiking along the shoreline stretch although it was challenging. The pavement is not the expensive smooth blacktop but it didn't have potholes nor many cracks and imperfections. Less than ideal for skiking and definitely not good for rollerskis nor roller blades (I tried rollerblades and even with soft wheels the vibrations were too much to handle).
There are two beautiful sandy beaches within this park that have very large parking lots at the access points. There is a designated kiting area on one of the beaches so you do not need to worry about any interference. Please obey the signs.
We enjoyed several walks along the beaches. The park staff do a great job monitoring the beaches so they are kept clean and safe for all to enjoy.
There is a walking trail near these beaches that takes you to the point (on upper left: Owen Point) you can see in the photo directly above.
This Provincial Park has a lot of bird watching visitors so there are many walking trails (these trails prohibit the use of bicycles)
The village-like town of Brighton has all the necessities (eg. Firewood, Groceries, Pharmacy, Restaurants, Gas Stations, etc.)
